681,927 geocoded Portland Police Bureau offenses, January 2015 through July 2026, binned to a 0.004° grid and smoothed for display. The color scale is held fixed across all 136 months and clipped at the 99.5th percentile, so brightness means the same thing in every frame. Every ring is the reports within 200 m of the pin, in the month on screen, under the filter that is on.

The underlying records come from the Portland Police Bureau. I keep a cleaned copy, one CSV per year with a column reference, in my public datasets repository, refreshed monthly.
